     The Purple Coneflower has attractive, large pink to purple flowers. it is a member of the sunflower family and is very attractive to butterflies. The petals hold their color for up to two months. The Purple Coneflower is well known for its medicinal value although we do not encourage any use of this plant other than as an ornamental.

     It grows from one to two feet tall and usually blooms from May to July. The rhizome should be planted about three inches deep in a semi-moist, sunny area. Some plants may not grow or bloom until the second season.
