The Cinnamon Fern can grow to a a height of four feet under ideal conditions. The cinnamon colored spikes or fertile leaves contain the ferns spores. These spikes appear in early spring along with the new growth.

     This fern attains its best growth when planted in wet areas, although it will thrive in shaded drier sites. The rhizome should be planted about one inch below the ground surface in rich organic moist soil.
