This is a graceful fern of delicate appearance. It is very hardy and easily grown. Best results are obtained in moist organic soil in shade. The two to three foot long leaves are about ten inches wide and very lacy and fern-like. The Lady Fern makes a good contrast plant when placed among other more robust ferns.
It grows from a shallow-creeping, branching root that should be planted about two inches deep. Given time and the right environment, this fern will spread and produce spectacular colonies.
