The name of this plant refers to the May blooming of its apple-blossom like flower. The waxy white flowers are about two inches wide. The plants produce two, roughly circular, three to seven lobed leaves up to one foot across. The flower is between and slightly below the leaves.
The Mayapple prefers rich woods and damp, shady clearings. In time it will produce spectacular colonies. Empty the entire contents of the package into a hole about three inches deep. Some plants my not bloom until the second season.
